Matt Coates
Matt, his wife and two boys reside in Normal, IL and he has an associate degree from Illinois Central College and a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Illinois State University. While attending Illinois State, Matt was also a student-athlete on the Men’s Basketball Team. In 2019, Matt earned a master’s degree in leadership in Nonprofit Organizations from Bradley University.
Matt currently serves on the Illinois Prisoner Review Board and has spent most of his career in human services working with at-risk youth and families. Matt’s grandfather served in the Army, and it is through his grandfather’s stories that Matt’s passion for serving military and gold star families began.
Matt’s greatest passion is serving his community and uplifting people and families.
